THE COMEDY WORKFLOW / 01

Capture the comedy idea.
Find it again.

A thought arrives while you’re doing something else. Save enough of it to recognize what interested you, then give it a place you can return to when it’s time to write.

A useful detail → Inbox → a writing session

Keep the detail that made you notice.

“Hotels are strange” is a topic. Three contradictory signs beside one light switch is something you can picture. When you catch an idea, record the object, the wording or the tiny interruption that stopped you. Add why it caught your attention: irritation, embarrassment, delight or a question you can’t leave alone.

Don’t make the first note carry a whole finished bit. A few specific words can be enough to bring back the scene. If a line has a rhythm you want to remember, say it aloud rather than trying to reconstruct it later.

In Red: Capture → Inbox

Type the thought, record a voice note or add a photo, then save it to Inbox. Open it in Writing Room when you can give it attention. Capture voice notes don’t require AI; the recorder supports up to five minutes, and attachment limits apply.

Give the note a name you would search for.

“Light switch signs” will probably help future you more than “new idea.” Keep the title close to the thing you observed. You can discover the bigger theme while writing; you don’t have to solve the filing system before saving the note.

Use a few broad collections for the way you actually work, then add tags when they help connect ideas across those collections. A stage can describe how far the material has developed. Avoid making a new category for every note: the useful test is whether it helps you find something you want to work on.

In Red: Library

Collections, tags, stages and saved views help organize a growing Library. Collections can have names and colors. A short review of Inbox gives you a chance to choose the observations you want to develop next.

Choose one question to write toward.

On your next writing pass, pick one saved observation. Read or listen to the original note before polishing it. Ask what still interests you and what your audience would need to understand the scene. Write toward one question for a few minutes, then see which detail deserves another pass.

Some captures stay as notes. Others become premises, draft paragraphs or pieces on the Board. Keeping the original observation nearby gives you something concrete to return to when the draft gets too broad.

Continue with a Board-to-draft writing workflow.

ALREADY HAVE A NOTEBOOK FULL?

Bring the notes you already have.

You don’t have to start with an empty Library. Export from your current notes app, upload a supported file and review what Red found before saving it. Keep the original export. File imports don’t keep the other app in sync, and complex layouts, handwriting or attachments may need cleanup.

Review supported formats and import limits, or read the import and saved-work help.

Before you take the idea offline

Can I rely on Capture without a connection?

Prepare the device online before relying on offline capture. Give supported work time and device space to download, and check Device status. A local save means this device has the work; another device sees a saved change after it syncs. Clearing browser or app storage can remove unsynced work.

Do I need AI to save or organize an idea?

No. Capture voice notes, manual writing and Library organization can be used without creative AI. AI help is optional. Some organization changes, including collection management, need a connection.

YOUR WRITING. YOUR CALL.

Bring the idea.
Keep it moving.

Red brings notes, drafts, Board work and sets into one comedy writing workspace. Use the manual tools yourself, with optional AI help when you want another opinion.
